Standards
In order to produce the best potato possible, FoodTrust farmers are expected to meet a stringent set of standards, which are required for each step in the food chain. These standards take into account food safety, environmental stewardship, wholesomeness, product quality and social values, and are part of what distinguishes FoodTrust products for the consumer.
FoodTrust growers are expected to:
- Meet current standards and guidelines for food safety systems;
- Adhere to an Environmental Farm Plan (EFP) and follow such practices as nutrient management and Integrated Pest Management (IPM) programs;
- Strive to meet federal and provincial regulations and industry guidelines for potato production, including using care during harvest to minimize impact to the vegetable, and ensuring it is properly stored following harvest.
Foodtrust potatoes meet all of the above standards so that you may enjoy another high-quality FoodTrust product.
